Structural issues force Leicester stand to remain closed to racegoers

The main seating stand at Leicester racecourse, which was closed on health and safety grounds at last week's meeting, will remain off limits at Friday's fixture, with plans to reopen it next month.
A structural survey of the old wooden building threw up some issues with the foundations, resulting in its closure at last Tuesday's meeting, and the course executive is hoping to have the remedial work carried out in time for the next fixture on April 4.
General manager David Maykels said: "We have to get structural surveys done on all of our buildings on a regular basis and it has highlighted some works that are recommended to be done on that stand.
