Meet the barrister and the Ballydoyle protege aiming to take the Cheltenham Festival by storm

Many a time over the years you see a partnership form to great effect. Batman and Robin; The Falcon and Winter Soldier; the Avengers did not do too badly at saving the world.
Training racehorses has long been a solo occupation in Britain, one person at the head of affairs in charge of everything while delegating to their version of Batman's Alfred, but the BHA's approval for the formation of training partnerships in 2020 has changed all that and has been particularly embraced by Graeme McPherson, for whom Dave Killahena is his second business partner in that time.
McPherson sent out more than 200 winners from 2006 to 2021 when combining possession of a solo licence with his career as a barrister but then merged his business with that of Fergal O'Brien, explaining: "It was a good opportunity at the time. I've lived here for 20-odd years and had expanded over that time to what we have today, which is 80 boxes spread over four barns, a round and hill gallop and outdoor school, everything we need really. During lockdown a conversation happened with Fergal and we joined forces for 18 months and I'm really pleased we did."
