Sadness lingers over Roaring Lion but Kameko’s stunning start has brightened life for Tweenhills and Qatar Racing
In the final instalment of our Sires of 2025 series, it's the turn of Tweenhills' rising star

Just as Kameko stepped out of the shadow cast by the glittering career of Roaring Lion on the track, winning the Futurity Trophy and covering himself in Classic glory, so has he emerged as a stallion of enormous promise following the devastation of Roaring Lion's premature death.
David Redvers and Sheikh Fahad's faith in the Kitten's Joy line was rewarded with two Group 1 winners and, while sadness lingers over Roaring Lion, with the sole crop of the quadruple top-level winner returning a Group 1 victor in Dubai Mile and six Group winners in total, Kameko's blazing start to his stallion career brings renewed hope and impetus.
Tweenhills is home to the only member of last year's first-season sire cohort to have a top-level winner – and Grade 1 Summer Stakes hero New Century was an apt breakthrough winner for Kameko.
