Knockhouse Stud has announced the arrival of the first foal by its Group 2 winner and Derby third Amhran Na Bhfiann.

A filly out of High Chaparral mare Belper Rose was born three days ago and hails from the Wertheimer family of dual Group 3 winner Trumbaka.

Amhran Na Bhfiann, a blue-blooded son of Galileo, was retired to the Kilkenny operation after landing the Curragh Cup for Aidan O'Brien and the Coolmore partners. He was also third to Serpentine in the Derby before breaking his maiden in a Dundalk maiden the following April as a four-year-old.

Now an eight-year-old, he is out of the winning Green Desert mare Alluring Park, making him a brother to Oaks heroine Was and Derrinstown Derby Trial winner Douglas Macarthur.

He is also a brother to the winning Park Bloom, dam of a Wootton Bassett colt who become the highest-priced yearling colt in European history when selling to Amo Racing for 4.3 million guineas at Tattersalls last October.

Alluring Park is a daughter of Irish Champion Stakes and Nassau Stakes winner Park Express, making her a half-sister to unbeaten champion juvenile, Derby hero and top-class sire New Approach.

Amhran Na Bhfiann is standing his second season for €1,500.
