The Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle takes place at 2.00pm on the third day of the Cheltenham Festival and serves as the final for the 21 long-distance qualifying races that are run throughout the jumps season. Starting in 2025, winners of those qualifiers are now guaranteed a place in this race, as long as they are within the required weight range come the festival. The race has been something of a stepping stone for younger horses who go on to greater achievements over fences. In recent years the likes of Presenting Percy and Delta Work won the race en route to excellent novice chase campaigns the following season. WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR - PERTEMPS HANDICAP 2024
Monmiral, who had started his season over fences, started at 25-1 having qualified with a distant fourth at Chepstow the month before but looked revitalised in first-time blinkers, coming home strongly to lead on the run-in. The progressive Kyntara looked the winner for much of the home straight but was just nabbed late on, with favourite Cuthbert Dibble rallying for third.
