Topweight has strong claims of landing Imperial Cup pot but dangers abound

The lure of Cheltenham’s County Hurdle is easier to resist when a prize like the Imperial Cup comes six days earlier. The purses are similar and the Sandown race takes less winning.
That fact will not have been lost on Sam Thomas, an excellent target trainer who is seeking more attainable prize-money with Lump Sum.
The seven-year-old is having an outstanding season, with the exception of a forgivable Racing Post Ratings blip behind Constitution Hill in the Christmas Hurdle.
